How do you play?
It's just
like baseball, without the baserunning. Just hitting, pitching and fielding.
Pitchers throw at a strike zone to decide balls and strikes. Hits are
determined by lines for singles and doubles, and a fence for triples and
home runs. Fielders catch fly balls, scoop ground balls, and throw for
double plays. Games are 5 innings long, with 3 outs per side. There's 2
strikes for a strikeout, and 4 balls for a walk. Those are the basics.

Who can play?
All ages
and all levels are welcome. Typically, players range in age from 15 - 50,
from beginner to veteran. Our events are designed for both fun and
competition - in other words, there are no "lose and go home" events. All
teams always play a half to a whole day's worth of games, usually a minimum
of 3 or 4 games depending on the event. Win a couple of those games and
you'll likely move on to the playoffs, where the competition gets tougher.
And for younger players, there is a NEWA Youth Division. Players between the ages
of 11 - 15 can now face off against their peers from around New
England, with their own slightly-modified rules, and all for the benefit of
the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Massachusetts. However, even these ages can compete in the
regular tournaments (and have done so with success in the past!).
